On February 26-27, 2024, advocates from kidney organizations across the country will join together for the 11th annual Kidney Patient Summit, organized and led by the National Kidney Foundation. Voices for Kidney Health advocates will educate Members of Congress and their staff about the importance of protecting living organ donors; increasing funds for federal kidney disease awareness, education, and research programs; increasing access to home dialysis; and supporting a pro-kidney health policy agenda.
The National Kidney Foundation’s government relations team is thrilled to welcome you back to Washington, D.C. for this year’s Summit! Get ready for an unforgettable experience filled with insightful discussions, invaluable networking opportunities, and impactful sessions.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates and information regarding the Summit! We have some incredible sessions and discussions lined up that you won’t want to miss.
Each year, NKF presents the Richard K. Salick Advocacy Award to an outstanding kidney patient advocate. This prestigious award is given to an individual who embodies the spirit of NKF’s dear friend and former colleague, Rich Salick, who underwent three kidney transplants and faced cancer but still put the needs of other kidney patients ahead of his own. Our 2023 recipient, Bobbie Reed, is a tireless champion for her fellow kidney community members, advocating for positive policy change at the state and federal level. Congratulations, Bobbie!
Our Congressional Awards Reception is held in conjunction with our Patient Summit. Last year’s event honored two outstanding champions in the fight against kidney disease: Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (MS) and Rep. Gwen Moore (WI). Our honorees are leaders in the fight against kidney disease, consistently championing legislation to improve the lives of kidney patients and living donors nationwide.
The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) is the largest, most comprehensive and longstanding, patient centric organization dedicated to the awareness, prevention and treatment of kidney disease in the US. For more information about NKF visit kidney.org.
